31st Suzuki Strings Concert, Thursday, May 8, 7 p.m.


        Join the Cedar City Suzuki Strings for music by Dvorak, Telemann, and Vivaldi on Thursday, May 8, at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Center.  The suggested donation is $5.
      Fiddling pieces include Orange Blossom Special and Old McDonald complete with animal sounds on instruments. Students age 3 through adult present folk songs, classics and popular music for your enjoyment.
       Themes from Dvorak's "New World Symphony" and  "Pirates of the Caribbean" give the orchestra contrasting styles of music. Violists present the Telemann Concerto in G major, 1st movement, with orchestra and the violinists perform Vivaldi Concerto in A minor, 1st movement. The lovely "Lover's Waltz" by Jay Unger and Molly Mason is also on the program.Cellists have chosen "Livi's Blues" by Cheney as their show piece.
            The Suzuki Strings program is in cooperation with the Southern Utah University Music Department and the Suzuki Association of Utah. The program involves parental support, listening to professional recordings to develop better intonation, and group classes. Marin Colby, Kindal Erickson, Chelsea Gardner, Sara Penny and Alexandra Schwartz teach the group classes.  Pianists are Tasha Seegmiller, Rimi Fletcher, and Beth Stephenson.
            Financial support this season comes from the Sterling and Shelli Gardner Foundation plus a grant from the Cedar City Arts Council.
            “We are excited to see the student progress this year.  We appreciate the hard work and dedication that the concert represents,” said Sara Penny, Suzuki Strings Director.

A Wonderful Fall 2019 Workshop
