Denise Willey
Denise Willey, founder of the Lyceum Orchestra Program in 1987, is starting a new youth orchestra this summer, the VIVACE ORCHESTRA PROGRAM. She also founded the Lyceum Music Festival Youth, a hugely successful orchestra summer camp.  She is an SAA Registered Suzuki Teacher Trainer, and was selected “Studio Music Teacher of the Year” by Utah’s American String Teachers Association.  She has served on the Suzuki Association of Utah Board of Directors for thirty years.  Mrs. Willey published the I LOVE to Read Music! Literacy Series, and has authored Easy Steps to Music Reading.  She received her Bachelor of Music from the U of Utah, played in Mormon Youth Symphony for years, and taught school orchestra for a dozen years before she retired to raise her family. She's back in school this fall after 30 years. She also performs with Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Willey was a home-schooling/Suzuki mother of six now-grown children, who have all received national recognition for their accomplishments, and the happy grandmother of nearly 10.

Catherine Anne Willey Schulzke graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Classical Studies (Latin) and Music.  She has also served as a music missionary for twelve years in the Orchestra at Temple Square, and is co-principal cellist. She has soloed with the Utah Symphony (twice), Utah Valley Symphony, Timpanogos Symphony, Lyceum Music Festival, at two ASTA National Conferences, and for a world audience with Debut National Orchestra at Mt. Rushmore. She is a fully- trained Suzuki teacher and has taught private cello lessons since 2005. She has been the faculty cellist at Vivace Orchestra Program, Lyceum Music Festival Youth, Mountains and Strings Retreat, and Bryce Canyon Music Camp. She spent a semester teaching in Kyiv, Ukraine, and served a mission to Cape Verde. An aspiring polyglot (eleven,) she took first place in the 2016 International Yengitch Latin Competition. She is married to her BFF, Nate Schulzke.

Lara Willey is a senior at Utah Valley University on full music scholarship, where she
serves as concert master of the UVU Symphony. Her teacher is Donna Fairbanks and
she is double majoring in Violin Performance and Commercial Music (Film Scoring.)
Miss Willey has soloed with the Utah Symphony a record five times, along with the
Debut Orchestra in Beverly Hills, at three ASTA National Conferences, five times with
Utah Valley Symphony, with UVU Symphony in 2016 and 2018, among others.  She
was concert master of the Lyceum Philharmonic and Music Festival for ten years, from
age 12, concertmaster of Utah’s All-State Orchestra, and performed in National High School Honors Orchestra.  Rebekah started violin at 12 months with her mother, and also studied with Deborah Moench, Barbara Williams, and Katherine Eberly.  She played her first full symphony at age 7, and solo violin in “Fiddler in the Roof” at 12. She won the Utah Prize in the first Stradivarius International Violin Competition, first prize in the Utah Baroque Competition, and 2nd place in the Grand Junction Symphony Competition. Teacher-trained in the Suzuki method, Rebekah maintains a studio of young violinists/violists, is the new director of the Vivace Chamber Ensemble, and the faculty violinist at Lyceum Music Festival Youth, Mountains and Strings, and Bryce Canyon Music Camp.
